So playing NationStates influenced me to get Jennifer Government from the library. I seem to have a weakness for alternative history political thriller types. Anyway, it's a good, well-written book, which would be described by deep-voiced movie guy as "IN A WORLD... where capitalism has gone mad...". It's interesting because plenty of novels are about an all-powerful fascist/communist government, but here's one with a weak and ineffecual government that is dwarfed by the power of enormous corporate alliances. Which in Syndicate stylee go to war with each other. And some companies just build roads wherever they like and charge you to use them. Read the first chapter if you wish.
